unesco Al Fo International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics The UNESCO-AI Fozan International Prize for Promotion of Young Scientists in STEM ستيم محرك التنمية STEM ENGINE FOR DEVELOPMENT How to apply to the UNESCO-AI Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)? Deadline: 15 Novembre 2022 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) has been transforming the world we live in. It has been impacting our quality of life in multiple forms. Science and related technologies are at the heart of this science-led process of change and are increas- ingly recognized as fundamental driver of countries' socio-economic development strategies. The UNESCO-AI Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in STEM honours achievements of young scientists that are conducive to capacity building, the development of scientific careers and socio-economic development at the national, regional, and global levels. Funded by the Al Fozan Foundation, the Prize will designate five outstanding young scientists in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), working in the following regions: Africa Arab States Asia and the Pacific Europe and North America Latin America and the Caribbean Each of the five Laureates will receive an award of 50,000 USD Certificate Medal Established by UNESCO's Executive Board by acclamation, the Prize directly contributes to the attainment of the 2030 Sustainable Development agenda referring to several SDGs. Who is eligible? Individuals who have promoted STEM advancement in education, research, or international cooperation for societal development. Candidates must be less than 40 years old at the time of applying for the Prize and must be actively involved in STEM at the time of application to the Prize. Nominations To be considered eligible, it is mandatory to be nominated. Self-nominations will not be considered. Qualified nominators may be: ⚫ Member States through their National Commissions to UNESCO. Non-governmental organizations in official partnership with UNESCO and active in relevant fields covered by the Prize. UNESCO Chair holders. Each nominator may submit up to three nominations for each edition of the Prize. UNESCO Category 2 Centres. International Scientific Unions. Heads of Universities. Nominations can only be submitted electronically through the online dedicated platform: https://unescoalfozanprize.org/ and must be written in English or French.
unesco Al Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics The UNESCO-AI Fozan International Prize for Promotion of Young Scientists in STEM Selection Criteria The candidates' selection criteria are the following: Novelty of knowledge that the candidate's work is addressing. The candidate's breakthroughs and achievements to the advancement of STEM (publications and patents). The scientific impact of the candidate's research (application of research, impact on other scientists' work). ⚫ The recognition of the candidate (national, regional award, invited keynote speakers, press release). The societal impact of the candidate's work to the United Nations Sustainable Development. Selection process The Secretariat reviews all applications received after the deadline and transmits the eligible applications to the International Jury of the Prize. The International Jury meets to assess the applications. STEM ENGINE FOR DEVELOPMENT The Director-General selects the winners based on The Prize is awarded to the winner(s) during the recommendation of the International Jury. an official ceremony.
