INNOPOLIS Foundation (Director: Yang Seong-Gwang) held the opening of Biz-Connect Center (“BCC”), a core platform to lead the start-up of Sejong functional district and growth of company innovation. The opening ceremony was held with total about 80 people including key figures such as Mayor of Sejong City Vice Chairman of Sejong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and founders and businessmen in Sejong functional district.

 

BCC, located on the second floor of Jang Young-Sil Science & Technology Support Center of Sejong Functional District, is composed of coworking space, network space, creative space, and cafe lounge, etc and intensively supports commercialization of startup businesses and enterprises in Sejong-Si. Since last year, BBC has continued to operate commercialization support programs such as promising public technology, technology transfer between companies, consultation on commercialization, linkage between innovation bodies, and it is more meaningful that the spatial basis for the science belt functional district support project has been established.

 

Sejong BCC's opening ceremony includes abundant programs not only this event which includes MOUs with 5 institutions responsible for supporting Commercialization of Sejong functional district, but also 2019 Science Belt Functional District Support Project Presentation and Coordination Concert with Mayer of Sejong-Si ' Programs.

 

Sejong BCC signed 5 MOUs with INNOPOLIS Foundation, Sejong Chamber of Commerce, Sejong Creation Economic Innovation Center, Sejong Regional Industrial Planning Department and Sejong Intellectual Property Center in order to fulfill the role of commercialization intermediation platform of Sejong functional district. Through these MOUs, BCC promised close cooperation to revitalize the technology commercialization of Sejong functional district and to support the growth of enterprise innovation. BCC also continued to cooperate with the universities in the region and raised the expectation of future BCC’s role as intermediary.

 

In addition, Director of INNOPOLIS Foundation directly presided over the meeting at the "Innovation Growth Coordination Concert with Mayor of Sejong" held as a post-dinner event to listen to various opinions of (preliminary) founders of startup businesses and VCs, and an immediate feedback of the market was provided to establish a platform for free communication for innovation growth of Innovative enterprises of Sejong.

 

Yang Seong-Gwang, director of INNOPOLIS Foundation said, “beginning with Sejong BCC, we will do our best so that BCC may play a role as a core platform of commercialization of Science Belt Functional District through opening BCC branches gradually in Cheongju and Cheonan, Science Belt Functional Districts”
