"INNOPOLIS Daedeok, Leading the commercialization of 10 national essential strategic technologies"!
- Full-scale promotion of INNOPOLIS Daedeok fostering project worth 35 billion won in 2022 -
The INNOPOIS Daedeok (Director Park Eun-Il, hereinafter INNOPOLIS Daedeok) of
the Korea Innovation Foundation (President Byeong-Sam Kang, hereinafter ‘Foundation’) announced the implementation plan for the 2022 INNOPOLIS Daedeok fostering project (02/28/2022), and that an online business briefing session would be held on February 22 (Tuesday) at 2 PM.
In 2022, INNOPOLIS Daedeok will invest a total of KRW 35 billion, including KRW 12.1 billion in the “Technology commercialization capability enhancement project (R&BD)” (hereinafter referred to as technology transfer R&BD) and
KRW 14.2 billion in the “Spin-off companies growth support project to ensure that INNOPOLIS Daedeok can continue to develop as a regional innovative growth base for national science and technology.
In particular, this year, 12.1 billion won will be invested in the technology commercialization capacity strengthening project to reinforce the commercialization capacity of the national agenda, such as carbon neutrality and national essential strategic technology.
To intensively support the qualitative growth of Spin-off companies*, INNOPOLIS’s unique technology-based innovative start-up model, it will expand support to
14.2 billion won (8.3 billion won in 2021 → 14.2 billion won in 2022), an increase of 6 billion compared to last year, planning to strengthen customized support for each stage of corporate growth, such as fostering K-leading research companies**.
* Companies established in INNOPOLIS by public research institutes, such as research institutes and universities, by investing 10% or more of their capital for direct commercialization of technology (Article 9-3 of the Special Zone Act)
** Companies that possess at least one of the world’s top technologies and products and expand their market dominance while competing, trading, and cooperating with global companies → Intensive support such as large-scale funds, investment attraction, and global market entry.
In this business briefing session, to be held on February 22, there will be an opportunity to explain the INNOPOLIS Daedeok fostering project and the global cooperation project to support the overseas expansion of spin-off companies and the unique empirical system of INNOPOLIS new technology.
Park Eun-il, director of the INNOPOLIS Daedeok, said, "We will strengthen the
commercialization of essential national strategic technology fields such as
artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and advanced biotechnology, and
established an ultra-wide cooperative system centered on the INNOPLIS Daedeok
so that the INNOPLIS Daedeok will continue to develop as a growth base for
regional innovation in national science and technology."
After INNOPLIS Daedeok was designated in 2005 in accordance with the
「Special Act on the Promotion of INNOPOLIS」, INNOPOLIS is growing into an innovation cluster with ▲ 2,243 companies, ▲ creating about 80,000 jobs, and ▲ generating 19 trillion won in sales as of the 2020 statistical survey.
INNOPLOIS was created to create new technologies, spread achievements, and promote commercialization based on R&D of public research institutes, in which five special INNOPOLIS* including INNOPOLIS Daedeok, and 12 small and strong INNOPOLIS** have been designated.
