Daedeok Innopolis Enhances Global Standing by Sharing Korean Science Park Model!

- 26th K-STP Program Held with Participation of 14 Policy Makers from 14 Developing Countries -
□ The Daedeok Innopolis Foundation (Chairman Hee-Kwon Jeong, hereafter referred to as “the Foundation”) announced on the 23rd (Tuesday) that it held the 26th K-STP (Korea's Science & Technology Park) program to transfer and disseminate the Korean Science Park model, centered on Daedeok Innopolis, to developing countries.
□ This program was structured to reflect the needs of participating countries, focusing on Daedeok Innopolis’ cases of ▲innovation ecosystem activation policies ▲technology commercialization systems ▲network building with innovative institutions, and sharing the model of the research and development ecosystem involving technology transfer and research institutes’ enterprises, as well as networking with local stakeholders.
○ The 14 participants from 14 developing countries* will stay at Daedeok Innopolis for 10 days to share mutual knowledge, information, and networks.
* The 14 countries are: Dominican Republic, Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Philippines, Ghana, Benin, Serbia, Oman, and Kuwait.
□ The K-STP program, which has been operating since 2008, began in response to requests for the transfer of Daedeok Innopolis' development process to developing countries and has produced 513 graduates from 75 countries over the past 17 years.
□ Sally Ragaela Payano from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and SME's of the Dominican Republic expressed her anticipation for participating in the 26th K-STP program. She said, "Through the K-STP program, I hope to learn about the science and technology policies and innovation ecosystem that have driven Korea's industrial development and continuously collaborate with the Foundation to apply these insights to the Dominican Republic's science and technology policies."
□ Hee-Kwon Jeong, Chairman of the Foundation, emphasized, "The 26th K-STP program is a significant opportunity for policymakers related to STP from various countries to share knowledge and information," and added, "We will make efforts to further strengthen the global standing of the research and development zones through this program."
