□ The Busan INNOPOLISE of the Innopolis Foundation (hereafter referred to as the "Busan INNOPOLISE") held the 2nd Busan Technology Commercialization Policy Council at the Grand Josun Hotel on the 4th.
1st Busan Technology Commercialization Policy Council (APEC Climate Center, 10/30): Participants included Jin-Hyuk Yoo, Director of the Busan INNOPOLISE of the Innopolis Foundation; Yang-Hyun Jin, President of the Busan Economic Promotion Agency; Yong-Cheol Seo, President of the Busan Institute of Science and Technology Innovation; Jang-Hee Yoon, Director of the Regional Base Research Institute of the Korea Basic Science Institute; and Jeong-Cheol Bae, President of the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute. |
○ Recently, rapid changes in both internal and external environments are being accelerated across various fields, including the promotion of R&D driving challenges and innovation, the emphasis on future-oriented industries like deep tech, and the shrinking global supply chain and investment ecosystem.
○ Accordingly, the aim is to diagnose the current situation with innovation leaders who lead science and technology in Busan, and to strengthen collaboration and joint responses to prepare for environmental changes.
□ At the council, eight institutions leading technology commercialization in the region gathered to discuss R&D issues and collect opinions for the Busan area in 2023, and to discuss future mutual cooperation
○ In particular, this meeting aimed to create a unified platform among innovation institutions centered around opinion leaders who are decision-makers in the Busan area, and to realize a collaborative strategy for pursuing common agendas among institutions.
○ Participants included key figures in Busan's technology commercialization: Jung-Sun Kim, Vice President of Dongseo University; Ki-Hyun Hwang, Director of Industrial-Academic Cooperation at Dongseo University; Ki-Soo Lee of Tongmyong University; Seong-Jae Kim of Dong-A University; Im-Geon Lee of Dong-Eui University; Jeong-Hwan Oh of Pukyong National University; Kyung-Min Choi of Pusan National University; Dong-Hwan Seo, Director of Industry-Academic Cooperation at Korea Maritime and Ocean University; and Hyung-Soon Moon, former Director of the Southeast Regional Headquarters of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology.
□ The Busan INNOPOLISE will focus on key areas moving forward, including:
▴ Sharing progress and improvements on operating research groups centered on company demand.
▴ Discussing issues related to the expansion of the Busan INNOPOLISE (Centum, etc.).▴ Presenting strategies for cooperation to address regional challenges.
○ Following this, to match industry, R&D, and talent, the discussions included:
▴ Introduction of the Industrial Technology Research Association system (by Sol Park, Assistant Director of the Research Industry Promotion Division, Ministry of Science and ICT).▴Case study on R&D promotion by the Water Industry Research Association (by Gi-Taek Park, Vice President of Bookang Tech). ▴Joint research plans with Germany's Fraunhofer Institute (by Jeong-Hwan Choi, Ph.D., Fraunhofer Institute). ▴The focus was on joint research and association systems for tailored "connection and cooperation" in Busan.
○ On this day, the opinion leaders discussed various topics includins Education and research associations for power semiconductors (by Im-Geon Lee, Director, Dong-Eui University). Activation of new technologies through innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (by Dong-Hwan Seo, Director, Korea Maritime and Ocean University). Long-term maintenance plans for cooperative research (by Seong-Jae Kim, Director, Dong-A University). They expressed their strong willingness to actively participate.
□ Jin-Hyuk Yoo, Director of the Busan INNOPOLISE, stated, “Although efforts to discover and nurture regional innovative companies and secure new growth engines have continued, these have been conducted separately by each institution, leading to limitations in information, budget, and support projects. We will expand the sharing of information and cooperation in various fields, including R&D personnel, funding, innovative companies, and technology.”
