INNOPOLIS Foundation Collaborates on Deep Tech Commercialization and Venture Ecosystem Models

- Strengthening Exchanges with Busan Venture Entrepreneurs in Connection with the 50th Anniversary of Science and Technology -
□ The Busan Innopolis Headquarters of the INNOPOLIS Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "Busan Innopolis") announced that it held the "2023 Venture Day" event on the afternoon of the 22nd at Lotte Hotel Busan, in collaboration with Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, and the Busan Venture Business Association.
□ This event was organized to promote collaboration on deep tech commercialization and the creation of venture ecosystem models. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of science and technology (and the 50th anniversary of Daedeok Innopolis), the INNOPOLIS Foundation Chairman's Award (with a prize of 1 million KRW each) was presented to institutions that contributed to public technology transfer and commercialization in the Busan region.
○ The award recipients included five organizations that have advanced commercialization based on the innovative resources of public research institutions: ▴ Dong-A Corporation (a research company from Dong-A University, specializing in valves for drilling), ▴ Chemifolio (an innovative startup from Pukyong National University InnoPolis Campus, focusing on white biotechnology using cardanol), ▴ PRGSNTech (a research company from Pusan National University, developing treatments for rare diseases), ▴Koi (a research company from Korea Maritime University, specializing in marine pollution response equipment), ▴ Korea Maritime University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation
□ Additionally, the event highlighted shared values of mutual cooperation for R&D-based job creation with: ▴Dongmyung University (I-URP Project), ▴ Busan Institute of Science and Technology (DX Hub Center), ▴Busan Venture Business Association (Education Support Center)
□ Professor Han-Seop Moon, Director of the Quantum Sensor Research Center at Pusan National University, delivered a special lecture on quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum sensors. The lecture aimed to enhance venture entrepreneurs' understanding and interest in quantum technology, one of the nation's 12 strategic projects, and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial spirit in taking on challenging technologies and learning from failures.
□ Yoo Jin-Hyuk, Director of Busan Innopolis Headquarters, stated, "I extend my respect to the venture entrepreneurs who have continuously demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and technological innovation in the industrial field, contributing to national competitiveness." He added, "As we face a deep tech-focused venture ecosystem, we will spare no effort as a specialized institution in setting bold goals, providing proof-of-concept, and supporting R&D relay efforts."
