- INNOPOLIS Foundation and KAIST Club to Host Finals of the "50th Anniversary Daedeok Innopolis National eSports Tournament" -

□ The INNOPOLIS Foundation (Chairman Byeong-Sam Kang, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation)) and the Association of Research and Technology Institutes (Chairman Jae-Soo Kim) announced on the 13th that they will hold the finals of the "50th Anniversary Daedeok Innopolis National eSports Tournament" at the Daejeon eSports Stadium on the 15th to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Daedeok Innopolis.

 

○ This tournament is designed to provide an opportunity for the entire nation to visit Daedeok Innopolis, the heart of Korea's science and technology, on its 50th anniversary. It aims to promote Daedeok Innopolis and foster communication and exchange.

 

□ The tournament includes three games: League of Legends, KartRider: Drift, and FIFA Online 4. Through online and offline promotions, such as SNS and posters, a total of 469 participants applied from May 8th for a month. Through online preliminary rounds held from June 13th to 15th, 2 teams (10 people) and 10 individuals advanced to the finals.

 

○ Anyone over the age of 18 who meets the national amateur criteria* could participate, considering fairness and safety issues.

* Participants of professional teams or professional-level competitions in the past two years were not allowed.

 

○ The total prize pool for the tournament is 10 million KRW, with 2 million KRW for the League of Legends winner, and 1 million KRW each for the winners of KartRider: Drift and FIFA Online 4. There will also be awards for the runners-up and third place.

 

□ On the day of the finals, various side events will be held, including game experience events and science and eSports talk shows, which anyone visiting the stadium can participate in and enjoy.

 

○ Game experience events (Nintendo Switch, arcade games, PC games) that anyone can easily participate in will offer small prizes.

 

○ Additionally, there will be a talk show with scientific experts from Daedeok Innopolis (such as Sun-Woong Kang, Head of Safety Evaluation Research Institute) discussing "Toxic Stories," as well as a fan signing and talk show with a famous game streamer and digital commentator (Gamst).
